Thanks to a cooperative effort among area residents, businesses, and local governments, 10 miles of the Tweetsie Trail has been completed from Alabama Street in Johnson City to Hatcher Lane in Elizabethton. The Tweetsie Trail has become one of our region’s most popular areas for fitness, outdoor recreation, environmental education, and tourism. It is enjoyed by thousands of people for daily doses of fresh air, exercise, and natural beauty.
In addition to recreation benefits, the Tweetsie Trail is also proving to be an economic engine for Washington and Carter Counties.
The Tweetsie Trail Conservancy is continuing to work on amenities along the entire 10-mile length of the trail, access points and connector spurs.
Our goal is to maintain a functional and attractive recreation trail that complements existing green spaces and that is compatible with business enterprises. Funding assistance is always needed for improvements to the trail.
The Tweetsie Trail is already a treasure, and it will be enjoyed by many generations to come. This trail bears witness to the generosity, resourcefulness, and resolve of our communities to promote healthier lifestyles of its residents. Thank you for your part in making this dream come true, now and in the future.
