The purpose of the Tweetsie Trail Conservancy is to improve the Tweetsie Trail initially developed by the City of Johnson City.

In fostering, or promoting the development of, the Tweetsie Trail, the Conservancy will supplement the works done, and future works to be done, by the citizens of Johnson City, Tennessee and Elizabethton, Tennessee.

The Conservancy shall encourage the extension and improvement of the Tweetsie Trail itself, and the adjacent ancillary convenience facilities, such as public restrooms, shelters, benches and picnic areas, and the historic sites along the trail, such as Tipton-Haynes Historic Site, Sabine Hill, and Sycamore Shoals State Park. The Conservancy will expand public awareness about, and access to the trail and adjacent facilities and sites.
